What is a blog?

A blog is a shortened term for weblog. It is a website is a journal-style website that is generated by an individual user. The journals are usually formatted for reviewing the entries in reverse chronological order. Some usually contain links to other pages, quotes, articles on the selected topics, and other blogs. Most blogs contain text, but they can also contain pictures, video, and audio feeds.
Blogs can be used and maintained for many different purposes. One such purpose may be to gather opinions on a particular research project the user is pursuing. They may be used to broadcast information. Their largest use is for social context. Many blogs are used primarily for acquaintances to keep in contact and have a varied group of discussions without meeting face to face. An example of a widely used blog at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University is the discussion board on Blackboard.
